Values
- God’s glory. We value bringing glory to God in every thought, word, and deed. (1 Cor. 10:31)
- God’s Grace. We value being a community who are motivated and empowered by, proclaim, and mirror God’s grace because God alone graciously saves his people from their sins and transforms and enables his people to then respond by living lives that glorify God and show genuine love for God and neighbor. (1 John 4:19)
- Discipleship. We value living as a community where each member lives as a disciple who makes disciples, because this is the primary mission that Jesus has given his people. (Matt. 28:18-20)
- God’s Word. We value learning and living in accordance with the Scriptures as central to discipleship. (John 8:31; 2 Tim. 3:16-17)
- Prayer. We value living lives of deep relationship with our Heavenly Father as we respond to His Word through prayer. (Rom. 12:12)
- Obedience to Jesus. We value living in loving obedience to Christ as a response to God’s love for us, and as a central mark of discipleship. (John 14:15)
- Gospel witness. We value going out to share the good news about Jesus with our neighbors as we model the life of Jesus and participate in the mission he has given us to seek the lost. (Luke 19:10; John 20:21; Acts 1:8)
- Loving community. We value living as a community known for how well we love one another as a key sign that we are true followers of Jesus. (John 13:35)
- Gifted service. We value living as a community where each member is equipped for and participates in ministry, and where each member intentionally cultivates and uses the gifts God has given them to serve God and neighbor. (Eph. 4:12; 1 Peter 4:10)
- Reconciled Community. We value living as a community that reflects the many ethnicities and backgrounds of our community because we reflect the work Jesus has done to tear down the dividing wall between his people and unite them as one loving family. (Eph. 2:14-19)
- Servant leaders. We value leadership that reflects the humble service of our ultimate leader, Jesus Christ. (Mark 10:42-45)
- Biblical conflict resolution. We value pursuing the resolution of conflicts in our community in a way that reflects the guidance of our Lord Jesus. (Matthew. 18:15-17, etc.)
Mission
Lumberton Mission Church is a community that exists to glorify God by making disciples who together make disciples, all by God’s grace.
Vision
Lumberton Mission Church, by God’s grace, seeks to become a community of disciples who together delight to worship God and bring him glory because of his great love for us, and who therefore seek to see each member growing as a follower of Jesus and participating in the mission of God’s people to proclaim the gospel in word and deed so as to make more disciples who will, in turn, make disciples. As a result, we seek to be a community that reflects the many beautiful backgrounds in Lumberton and Robeson County because of the work Jesus has done to draw together his people from all nations and unite them as one loving family. We also seek to be this kind of community so that God’s good kingdom, marked by love and true peace, will be made more and more visible in our city and county through his people.
